Sending Prayers - Donna Lewis

Hello crafty friends. Welcome to my first post for the new year! Let’s hope 2021 is less surprising than last year! I love the time between Christmas and New Year, when I think through all the possibilities for the upcoming year, and what I want to keep, and let go of, and change. One thing for certain – cardmaking will still feature BIG!
I’m starting the year with two soft, restful cards that I hope will set the scene for the coming year. The main hero of the cards is the beautiful embossing folder from Paper Rose Studio, called Baby Blue, that I’ve used to create the background panel.
I wanted a soft background, preferably with the design standing out colour wise, as well as height wise. In order to do this, I blended Distress Oxides in Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint onto the inside of the folder. I am using blending brushes for most of my blending these days, but for this job I needed something more flat, so that the colour wouldn’t dip down into the leaves, so I used Ranger ink blending tools. I’ve made a video of the card making process, which you can see here:
The sentiments come from a die called Fine Script Sending, and also the supporting sentiments that are designed to go with the dies.
I added a few sequins at the end. I think they add a little bit of movement for the eye to follow. I’ve gone top left to bottom right which is the directions our eyes have been trained to follow when we read.
I hope you have found some rest and inspiration in these soft cards. If you’d like to see more of my cards, they are all on my Instagram feed here.
Until next time, may you have a restful start to the New Year. Not too much excitement, hey?
Blessings,
