Prickly Hugs - Deborah Adams

Hi There
Today I am sharing cards made featuring the gorgeous Cacti Greetings Stamp set from Paper Rose.
These cards evolved as my stash of Paper Rose products has grown.
Parts and pieces were made separately then eventually came together in perfect harmony.
Quite a while ago I played with background techniques using my gelli plate,
alcohol inks & stencils with acrylic paints.
There are lots of You Tube videos on this topic.
I recommend Kate Crane from Gel Press: Just Add Alcohol Backgrounds
This background was made with the Moroccan stencil.
I love the distressed terracotta look of this.
Matches well with the cute succulents which I heat embossed then water coloured
before  die cutting.
The card layers & Happy birthday stitched sentiment were cut from thick cardstock
I had previously coloured with spray inks in greens & blues.
I keep any thick cardstock or white packaging that I receive.
I spray ink a whole lot at once with combinations of colours that complement.
So I then have sturdy custom papers
for using for die cutting sentiments & background papers when required.
My second card features a very different gelli printed background.
This background was created with a 6" round gel press plate.
I applied sprinkles of Magicals powder then spritzed with water & printed onto thick cardstock.
The Cacti image was stamped on top in black Archival ink & clear heat embossed.
Extra light colouring of the Cactus was done with Watercolours.
Sentiment & backing card cut from matching green ink sprayed cardstock & white vellum.
I love how the background colour adds to the colouring of the plant pot.
Sending hugs to you with a cactus is probably a contradiction in terms!!
Paper Rose Products used to create these cards were:

Other products: Gel Press Plate 6" round & 8 x 10" rectangle, Acrylic Paints, Alcohol inks (yellow blue red) Blue & Green ink sprays (Distress oxides, Distress spray stains),

These stamped images are really cute.  Will definitely be making more of these.

Deb
