Potplant Slimline Card - Donna Lewis

Hello, hello! I feel like life is slowly getting back to normal after our big move. It’s lovely to be back in my craft space with all my inks and papers back out of storage. It’s nice to be able to decide what colours I want to use, and have access to them again after all these months. I’ve taken the opportunity to do a card with several layers, with a co-ordinating inside and envelope.
This card is a premade slimline card from Paper Rose Studio. I bought a pack of Cards and Envelopes, and I’m finding them so convenient for slimline cards, which I find waste some paper if I cut and score them myself. I’ve made a video of the making process, which I’ll add here.
The main images are Paper Rose Studio’s Flowerpot border 1 and Flowerpot border 2. I stamped these onto a separate sheet of white card with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and coloured them with my Copic markers.
Once these were coloured, I fussy cut them out with small scissors, leaving a thin white border. Using the same stamp, and the two darker ink colours from the list below, I also stamped one of the images onto the envelope flap and also on the inside of the card.
I then got onto the background. I had chosen terracotta colours and greens for the main images, and I wanted the background to echo these, so I chose Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint and Fossilized Amber. I smooshed a bit of each of these onto my crafty mat, making a patchwork pattern, and then spritzed generously with water, before dipping a piece of Watercolour paper onto the mat. I dipped twice, drying between layers. and also used some Paper Rose Liquid Sparkle, which I mixed with some of the darker ink left of the mat and spattered all over the piece. Once everything was dry, I cut out then panel with the second largest Nesting Slimline Rectangle die.
Finally, I put everything together! I used some woodgrain paper from the Eucalyptus Dance paper pack from Paper Rose Studio to make the shelves, and chose a sentiment from the All Occasions sentiment pack for the bottom. I had run these sentiments through my (cheap and nasty) laminator with some gold foil while I was in Australia, so the sentiment is gold.
That’s all for this card. I hope this finds you well, and enjoying some quiet time! Until next time, may all your plants thrive!
Blessings
