New Home - Donna Lewis

Hello crafty friends. I have a winter scene to share with you today. I wonder where you get your inspiration from for cards? I try to stay away from other cards as inspiration if I can, so that I don’t accidentally copy someone else’s work. This leads me down some interesting rabbit holes, including the Scandinavian Patterns google search that led me to this idea.
The houses I chose come from a die set from Paper Rose Studio called Slimline Buildings, and I cut these out of white card, and backed each house with a few small pieces of black paper to make the windows stand out. The sentiment comes from the Black and White Sentiment sheets, also from Paper Rose. Everything was popped up with foam tape onto the background.
The background is a piece of pool coloured paper, which I’ve blended with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide. I then use the Half Tone stencil from Paper Rose Studio to add some snow. I used Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink, and blended very gently so as not to reactivate the distress oxide and make blue dots.
Everything on the card was stuck down with foam tape to get a little bit of dimension.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the clean lines of this card. I’ll be back soon with more! If you’d like to see more cards, including my recent #finishedinfeb challenge, they are on my Instagram feed. Or, if you’re a visual person, feel free to visit my YouTube channel.
If you’d like to see this card being made, with music background, feel free to visit the Paper Rose Studio Youtube channel here.
Until next time,
Blessings,
