Merry & Bright - Donna Lewis

Hello crafty friends. I have another Christmas card to share with you today! This time, I have a nativity scene, albeit rather cute compared to the reality what it probably was like!
On to the details…
I stamped the image from Paper Rose Studio’s Nativity stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then coloured it with my Copic markers. Given that they were middle eastern, I’ve given Mary and Joseph brown skin, using Copic markers E35 and E13, with an undercolour of V17 for the shadows. I cut the image with the matching Nativity die.
The background was ink blended onto a piece of white cardstock, in two layers. I worked out where the image would sit, and started in that area with some Simon Says Stamp Sunbeam ink
I then blended towards the outside of the page, using Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans. Once I’d done the initial blending I added some movement to the background in three ways. First, I blended again through the Starry Night Stencil from Paper Rose, then I added spatters of water, which I immediately sopped up with paper towel. Lastly, I spattered some gold paint over the top three quarters of the background.
I popped both the image, and the sentiment (which comes from Paper Rose and is called Merry Christmas Sentiments) up with foam tape to complete the card.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed this blog post and that you’re having a super day.
Blessings,
Donna
