Kangaroo Christmas Surprise - Donna Lewis

Hello crafty friends. How’s December going for you? It’s always a busy month, especially in Australia where we also have the school year ending in December, but I’ve noticed a definite slow down in pace now we have no school age children. We’ve been able to take several Christmas concerts and graduations and prize nights off the calendar!
I have a fun card for you today. This sweet little kangaroo and joey surprise box is the sweetest stamp. It is a Paper Rose Studio stamp, which was designed by Rachelle Ann Miller of RAM stamps. Rachelle has a gorgeous whimsical style, which is really fun to colour.
Here’s a short video I made of the process. There’s a bit of chat about Australian animals too, if you’re interested.
I chose Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for this project. (try saying that three times fast!) They are a watercolor marker that allows you to lay a very small amount of colour down with precision and then blend it out.
Once I’d coloured the image, I used a little pencil to lay down a shadow to ground the image. I cut the panel out with a stitched rectangle die, using this as an opportunity to straighten up my crooked stamping, and mounted the whole thing on a card base with a thin green border.
That’s all for today’s card. I hope that you are having a super start to December. I’ll be back soon with more cards. Until next time,
Blessings,
Donna
