It's in the Stars - Kelly Bates

Hello friends! Today I’m sharing a fun galaxy themed birthday card perfect for your budding astronaut.

Paper Rose Products used:

Other products used:

Neenah 80lb cardstock, Black Smooth cardstock, Black glitter cardstock, Distress Inks in Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon and Black Soot, Distress Spray bottle, White acrylic paint, Ranger Glossy Accents, Ranger White embossing powder, Versamark ink.

Technique:

I cut a piece of Neenah 80lb to approx. 10cm x 14xm and blended a line of Wilted Violet diagonally across the page, followed by Mermaid Lagoon either side of that, and then Cracked Pistachio and lastly blended Black Soot across the whole panel, make the outer edges darker than the middle. I then gave it a couple of spritzes with my Distress Spray bottle and removed the excess water using a cloth.

I watered down my white acrylic paint and used that with a small paintbrush to make the white spatters. I then set the panel aside to dry. I used the Stars texture die to cut one from the black glitter cardstock and one from the smooth black cardstock and glued those together.

I used blueish scraps from the Dream in Pastels paper pack to cut some stars to paper piece back into the die cut. I heat embossed my sentiment onto black cardstock and cut using one of the banners from the banners and stars die set. To assemble: I cut the largest rectangle die out of black cardstock, then used the second largest to cut my Neenah ink blended panel and attached those together.

I then glued down my black glitter stars die cut, popped in the stars from the Dream in Pastel paper pack and covered those stars only in Glossy Accents. I finished by foam tape mounting my sentiment to the bottom right.
