Happy Birthday Card - Kelly Bates

Hello friends, happy 2023! I’m back for another year with Paper Rose Studio and today I’m sharing a fun pop up card using the new Fun Vibes paper collection, so let’s get into it!
Looks can be deceiving! Inside the card is a pop up element that takes only a few minutes to create, the template is below for you to make your own!
Other products used: Paper Trimmer, Scoring board, Foam tape, orange marker, 200gsm white cardstock
Technique:
  • Fold 1 sheet of Smooth White Cardstock in half, then use 1.5 sheets of the rainbow striped paper from the Fun Vibes pack to completely cover the inside, trimming off the excess.
  • Cut out the background panel for the front of your card from the 2nd largest rectangle die, then a coordinating paper square. Use a strip of a 3rd paper as a thin strip and use the 4th paper with the wonky scalloped die to place along the bottom of the square. Glue and foam tape these into place. Add sentiment and rainbow image.
  • Cut a panel from the 200gsm white cardstock that is 20cm x 14cm, then fold in half giving you a 10cm x 14cm insert. Use the template to create pencil marks then cut and score these using your paper trimmer and scoring board.
  • Pop the 3 cake layers up towards you and glue the rest of the insert into the card base.
  • Cut 3 different patterned papers: one 2cm x 4.4cm strip, one 3.7cm x 7.4cm strip and one 4cm x 10cm strip, and fold each in half. Lay these over your cake layers, trim as needed and glue into place.
  • Cut small strips of different papers, and flame shape pieces from the yellow leftovers. Use the orange marker to add the flame detail, and glue behind strip. Glue these into place on your cake layers, making sure to score your top candle down the centre so it folds with the card.

Thanks for visiting, see you again soon! – Kelly
